Connect your agent
Add the RootSmith MCP server to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or another MCP client so your agent can do anything you can do in RootSmith.
RootSmith has a remote MCP server. A connected agent can read and change everything you can in the dashboard, with your role in your team.
Get your server URL
Open the RootSmith Overview page. The Connect your agent card shows
your server URL and the setup for each client. The URL ends in /mcp.
Add the server
claude mcp add --transport http rootsmith https://<your RootSmith API>/mcp- Claude Code: run
/mcpto sign in and pick your team. - Codex: the second command opens the sign-in page.
- Cursor: add the JSON to
~/.cursor/mcp.json. Cursor asks you to sign in when it connects. - Other apps: add the URL as a remote MCP server or custom connector, such as in the Claude app or VS Code.
Sign-in and access
- You sign in with your RootSmith account in a browser. The agent never sees your password.
- Each connection is for one team. To use another team, add another connection.
- The agent has your role's access. Owners and admins get 56 tools; members get 45. See MCP tools.
- Agent access needs an active plan.
- Each client can make 120 requests a minute.
What stays in the dashboard
Some actions need a person in a browser:
- Copying the connection secret and rotating it.
- Buying or changing a plan.
- Connecting Google Search Console. An agent can disconnect it.
- Managing connected agents.
Manage connected agents
On the Connect your agent card, select Manage agents to see your connected agents and disconnect one. A disconnected agent stops working within a few minutes, when its current access expires.
Give your agent these docs
Point your agent at /llms.txt on this site, or add .md to any page URL.
